Live Performance- Patty PerShayla

Patty PerShayla is already a rarity as a combination singer and bassist, but has established herself as a stand-out performer by meanwhile perching on one leg or strutting the stage in platform heels. She is heard before she is seen, boasting a big voice for a relatively small vessel, and certainly has a lot to say—challenging gender norms, confronting imposter syndrome, processing trauma—and don’t even think about getting on her bad side. Always emoting for the cheap seats and boasting a big attitude, the heart of the project is PerShayla’s vocal delivery and her quirky, pointed lyrics, ready to call out injustice or just simply shout the big feelings away.

Make the Yuletide Gay

It's your newest holiday tradition! Don your gay apparel and cozy up next to three award-winning songwriters for a night of holiday classics, original music, storytelling, comfort, and joy. 2025 International Folk Music Artist of the Year award winner Crys Matthews is joined by genre-defying artist/activist Heather Mae and shame-slaying singer-songwriter drag queen Flamy Grant for a winter show like no other. We're making merry and celebrating the resilience of the LGBTQ+ community in a time when so many are trying to silence our voices. Don't miss this night of feel-good, uplifting, soul-filling music as we Make the Yuletide Gay for the second year in a row!

Crys Matthews

Winner of the 2025 International Folk Music Awards Artist of the Year, Nashville resident Crys Matthews is among the brightest stars of the new generation of social justice music-makers. Of Matthews, ASCAP VP & Creative Director Eric Philbrook says, “By wrapping honest emotions around her socially conscious messages and dynamically delivering them with a warm heart and a strong voice, she lifts our spirits just when we need it most in these troubled times.” In her own words, Matthews says her mission is: to amplify the voices of the unheard, to shed light on the unseen, and to be a steadfast reminder that hope and love are the truest pathways to equity and justice.

Flamy Grant

Flamy Grant is a shame-slaying, hip-swaying, singing-songwriting drag queen from Asheville, North Carolina. Her 2024 record CHURCH hit #8 on the iTunes Country charts and was named one of the Top Ten Best Queer Country Albums of 2024 by Rainbow Rodeo Magazine, while her 2022 debut record, Bible Belt Baby, reached the #1 spot on the iTunes Christian Chart and cracked the top 20 of Billboard’s Christian digital sales chart. Winner of the 2023 Kerrville Folk Festival New Folk competition, Flamy was also a nominee for Artist of the Year at the 2025 International Folk Music Awards. A powerhouse vocalist and intrepid songwriter who blends country, folk, gospel, and roots, Flamy delivers theatrical, therapeutic, and wholly original music shared through the evocative art of drag.

Heather Mae

Heather Mae is an acclaimed social justice singer-songwriter, fearlessly baring her soul in her music and creating an intimate space of shared vulnerability for her listeners. Her unbridled honesty, both on and off stage, has cultivated a devoted fanbase and garnered recognition including accolades like the winner of the Rocky Mountain Folks Fest Songwriter Showcase and Northeast Regional Folk Alliance Artist-Activist of the Year award. Her luminescent 2019 release, Glimmer, drew parallels to vocal powerhouses Adele and Sara Bareilles. With storytelling depth reminiscent of Florence Welch, each work by Heather Mae unveils a portrait of resilience and self-discovery.

Live Performance: Olivia Frances

When Olivia Frances walks on stage, her infectious energy and powerful stage presence capture the room. Combining ethereal vocals with an earthy, acoustic sound, she calls her music “Nature Folk-Pop” as her songs draw on inspiration from the beauty of the world around us. Frances glows in a similar sphere to stars such as Joni Mitchell, Kacey Musgraves and Florence and the Machine.

The Cincinnati native has organized dozens of tours throughout the U.S. From performing at Cheyenne Frontier Days, the world’s largest rodeo, to gracing the stage at Nashville’s iconic Bluebird Café - Frances continues to pave her own path.

Musical from a young age, Frances started playing piano at age six and composed her first song on guitar at age twelve. She spent her gap year between high school and college in Music City to hone her craft and further develop her musical style. Frances credits Maggie Rogers, Fleetwood Mac, and Bon Iver, as musical inspirations.

With her songs cumulatively reaching over a million streams on all platforms, this Nashville-based artist Frances continues to grow her loyal fanbase around the world. Her critically-acclaimed single, “Breathing Room” was up for GRAMMY® Consideration for Song of the Year and Record of the Year in 2023. In addition, “Breathing Room” won Gold in the Folk/Singer-Songwriter Category at the W.A.M. Awards. To view a full list of awards Frances has won, click here.

TunedUp founder Ryan Getz included “Breathing Room” in his coveted Top Songs of 2023 list, highlighting the influence this songbird has on listeners. Frances has written and co-written over 300 songs with hit writers such as Billy Lee (“The One” by Gary Allan), Kevin So (“Crush On You” by India Arie), and country singer Matt Stell (“Prayed for You”). Highly sought after as a collaborator, up-and-coming artists such Penny Eau (“Deep Blue”) and Haley Rosenthal (“Me Attacking Me”) released songs co-written with Frances last year.

2023 proved to be another momentous year. Frances signed her first single song contract with a major sync publishing company in Nashville, had the honor of being invited to perform at the United States Air Force Academy, and played her second show at the Cheyenne Arts Celebration in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Passionate about community involvement, she was asked by The Kennedy Center to be a VSA International Young Musicians Award Program Mentor.

Ordinary Elephant - Live Performance

Mesmerizing folk duo Ordinary Elephant has spent the better part of the last decade on a never-ending tour that’s earned married couple Crystal and Pete Damore widespread critical acclaim and made fans of luminaries like Tom Paxton and Mary Gauthier. In 2017, the pair took home the International Folk Music Award for Artist of the Year on the strength of their breakout album, Before I Go, and two years later, they returned with the similarly lauded Honest, which the Associated Press hailed as “one of the best Americana albums of the year.”

The band’s new stripped-down, self-titled collection is the purest distillation of their sound yet, showcasing the arresting power of the couple’s gorgeous harmonies and intricate fretwork. The songs are timeless, rooted in rich, character-driven storytelling, and the performances are similarly transportive, fueled by delicately intertwined banjo, guitar, and octave mandolin. Though the songs were born out of a period of deep uncertainty, the record itself is a work of profound self-assurance, one delivered by a duo whose personal and professional lives embody the limitless possibility of honest, organic collaboration. Press play on Ordinary Elephant and you’ll hear more than just a husband and wife; you’ll hear the sound of sincerity and commitment, of patience and gratitude, of learning to let go of expectation and revel in the simple beauty of the moment.

Opening for Flamy Grant is Louisville’s own, “Don’t Call Me Lady.”

Don’t Call Me Lady is a genre-bending band with a strong lyrical focus on finding beauty in the chaos.

Don’t Call Me Lady has been writing and performing together since 2022. Considering the differences in their musical backgrounds, it was almost inevitable that DCML would write music that spans many genres; rock, pop, jazz, country, punk… etc. A DCML show is an energetic, emotional roller-coaster! You’ll laugh, cry, and leave with at least 4 new nerdy friends.
