Logan Street Market exists to provide healthy, fresh, local food to an underserved community, to be a leader in sustainable practices and events, to be a community gathering space for people to learn, grow and connect, and to be a premier destination where local chefs and artisans excel. Logan Street Market is a registered Public Benefit Corporation (PBC), a model allowing us to execute our social mission while running a sustainable business. Our mission is to provide an avenue for local and regional food, and for culture economies to engage the community through the timeless public market model. We serve as a venue for residents from all corners of the county to interact and grow together.
Environmental Sustainability is a core mission of Logan Street Market. As part of this are efforts are the following:
- Prohibiting the use of: plastic bags, plastic straws and styrofoam
- Partnered with Evolve KY for our electric car charging station
- Using the green energy program with LG& E to offset our energy usage with renewables
Being a Market and food hall would not be possible without the entrepreneurial spirit of our awesome Merchants.
We are made up of 30+ local Chefs, Artisans, and Vendors.
Their passion and knowledge helps to make the Market the top food and beverage destination in the region.
By shopping locally from our Market Merchants, you are also investing in your local economy and providing a livelihood for these 30+ families.
Each month, Logan Street Market partners with a non-profit to give back to our community. Our February non-profit is The Kentucky Chamber Orchestra! $1 from one item from participating merchants will be donated to Kentucky Chamber Orchestra. Their mission is to maintain and promote the importance and relevance of classical music, to provide opportunities for education regarding the history and significance of the fine arts, and to promote the shared appreciation and enjoyment of music throughout the Greater Louisville area and beyond.
Each day at the Market, you will see the LSM Foundation, a registered 501(c)3, in action. Here are the highlights of our programming:
The Bodega is the bread and butter of the Foundation. Each day it will act as a community benefit by offering affordable groceries to members of the community. The best way for you to support us is to simply shop for your produce, local products, dairy and pantry staples located in the Fresh Air Hall at the Market. Your support helps us grow our offerings, educate about seasonal and healthful foods and see our prices low. Our offerings complement the other vendors at the Market, so you can enjoy one stop, 100% local shopping.
The Foundation will also operate a weekly Makers and Growers Market with capacity for 40+ local vendors. Our Farmers Market runs year round and is a space or local growers, producers and artisans. In addition to local food, our Market provides an affordable and accessible entry for budding entrepreneurs.
The GE Appliances Market Kitchen and other spaces within the Market will provide a home for arts, culture, education and nutritional programming to serve the community.
